I grew up in a family who valued and emphasized strong Navajo teachings. I had the privilege of learning from my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, and family. I also value all the time I spent herding sheep and riding horses. I have learned innumerable lessons on being a “good” Navajo person from these experiences and now live my life according to this Navajo standard.
Education is my passion and that has shaped my interest in education. I earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, Masters in Educational Leadership, and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. I have taught as a certified Navajo teacher for three local high schools. I also taught in a lecturer capacity for the Navajo Language Program at Northern Arizona University. I have experience in educational leadership and administration at three high schools. Combining my personal and professional experiences strengthened my interest in helping more schools that serve indigenous students.
